ZARAN on TV and Radio

ZARAN has produced a number of broadcast media pieces to publicise the work of the organisation and to increase awareness and understanding of human rights issues relating to HIV and AIDS.

TV Discussion Programmes
ZARAN has used the medium of live TV discussion programmes with prominent panellists to disseminate information and encourage debate on key topics relating to HIV and AIDS and human rights.

The following TV discussion programmes were aired nationally on ZNBC’s National Watch programme:

* ‘HIV and AIDS and Prisons’ aired on Sunday 29th March 2009
* ‘Criminalisation of HIV Transmission’ aired Sunday 15th March 2009
* ‘HIV and AIDS Human Rights and the Law’ aired on Sunday 18th May 2008

Radio Programmes
Radio reaches a wide audience in Zambia and is therefore one of ZARAN’s key media outputs.

ZARAN has run a 12 series Radio Drama that discusses issues ranging from the  AIDSLaw Clinic, HIV, human rights and the Law, Observational Trials, World AIDS Day, Disability, Child rights, Criminalisation, HIV and the military, Human rights and HIV testing, treatment, care and support, false cure claims, HIV and the workplace, HIV and insurance and  HIV and prisons. 
Radio drama serves as a powerful tool to pass on information through entertainment. The drama was aired every Thursday on ZNBC’S Radio 2 at 19:30 hours.
