ABOUT
Overview:

The Zambia AIDSLaw Research and Advocacy Network (ZARAN) is a non governmental development organisation which exists to champion the rights of people living with and/or affected by HIV and AIDS in Zambia.

ZARAN has undertaken a number of pioneering projects relating to HIV&AIDS and human rights in the following areas:

- Law and policy development
- Provision of legal services
- Advocacy and research
- Education and information provision

Background and History:

ZARAN was first established as a student association at the University of Zambia in 1999. In 2001 ZARAN was established as an NGO (non-governmental organisation) and has continued to grow ever since. It is one of very few organisations to deal with human rights and the only organisations dealing directly with a rights based response to HIV and AIDS.
